[ARCHIVED] Small Business Saturday November 26, 2022

Small Business Saturday

ALEDO, IL - The City of Aledo encourages all residents to celebrate Small Business Saturday this year by visiting their favorite local businesses.

Small Business Saturday, an annual event to encourage shopping at local, small businesses across communities nationwide, takes place on November 26th.

“By choosing to shop locally, customers make a direct impact on Aledo’s local economy and our overall quality of life,” Jarod Dale, Aledo’s City Clerk, said. “Small businesses are the heart of our community. Small Business Saturday is a great reminder to support these local businesses in our community.”

Shopping at local businesses is shown to have a positive impact on the communities where those businesses are located. According to American Express, $0.67 of every dollar spent on small businesses goes right back into the local economy.

Aledo Main Street, a local nonprofit organization charged with supporting downtown businesses and economic development, recently organized a “ Early Bird Holiday Open House” to encourage shopping at Aledo’s businesses.

“Aledo is home to many great businesses and entrepreneurs. Small Business Saturday gives the community an opportunity to support their favorite shops and hopefully visit new ones,” Lindsey Dunn, Director of Aledo Main Street, said. “We hope everyone can shop local this holiday season, especially on Small Business Saturday.”

To celebrate some of these local businesses, the City of Aledo has launched the Small Business Spotlight program. Every other month, Aledo will highlight a locally owned business on social media and the Monthly Memo newsletter. Small business owners who want to be featured are encouraged to submit an entry here.

Residents who want to receive the Monthly Memo are encouraged to sign up here. The Monthly Memo sends every second Thursday of the month and covers news, events and updates from the City.

Saturday, November 26th is recognized nationally as Small Business Saturday, a day where shoppers are urged to support small and local businesses instead of larger, national retailers.

Aledo, IL is an idyllic retreat from routine located just 30 minutes south of the quad cities. Founded in 1855, the community has over 3,600 residents. Find It All in Aledo.
