ALEDO NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

The 1st annual Aledo National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 1st, 2017.  The event will held in Aledo's Central Park from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  National Night Out is a family centered event that is free to residents from Aledo and all of our neighboring communities.

Police officers, fire fighters, City employees, Genesis Ambulance, and many other organizations and agencies will be there with booths, activities, information and demonstrations.  The event will feature food, activities and kids will be invited to climb into and onto squad cars, fire trucks and other equipment.  They will be able to get pictures taken in the vehicles and with officers, firemen and emergency medical personnel.

WHAT IS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT?

National Night Out is a year-long community building campaign designed to:
(1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
(2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts;
(3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
(4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between residents and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides a great opportunity to bring police and residents of the City together under positive circumstances.

NNO HISTORY

National Association of Town Watch introduced National Night Out in August of 1984 through an already established network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers across the nation. The first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. However, the event soon grew to a celebration beyond just front porch vigils.

Today, millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

National Night Out 2017 will be held in over 16,000 communities with more than 38 million people expected to participate nationwide.
