Animal Control Services:
The City of Aledo receives animal control related services through a contract with Mercer County.  Both Aledo police officers and Mercer County animal control officers respond to nuisance animal complaints within the city limits of Aledo.  The Aledo Police Department will respond to calls for assistance and attempt to assist with animal related complaints 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Nuisance Animal Guide:
The Aledo Police Department recognizes the need to deal with feral domestic animals, nuisance wild animals, and animals which may be sick or injured. This guide is provided to assist City of Aledo residents and business owners.  It provides basic suggestions for dealing with various types of animal complaints. Contact information for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and other sources of information and assistance may be found in this guide.

Please note, you may always call the Aledo Police Department (309-582-2331) for help.  You may also stop by the department to ask questions. We will be happy to help you in any way possible. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This guide is intended to offer general information about how to deal with situations you may encounter as you deal with wild and domestic animals.
