Permit Documents

Permit & Plan Requirements

A permit is required for most construction and remodeling projects. The following is a partial list of work requiring a permit and the documents that must be submitted with the permit application:

New 1 & 2 Family Residences & Additions

New Multi-Family, Commercial & Industrial Buildings & Additions

  • Plans and specifications required stamped by licensed architect/engineer
  • Plat of Survey Required stamped by licensed surveyor
  • Submit your commercial application online

Building Rehabilitation & Fire Repairs

  • Plans stamped by licensed architect or engineer may be required for structural repairs or alterations (as determined by building official)
  • Specifications required
  • Submit your commercial application online
  • Submit your residential application online

Change In Use Group

  • Designer may use building code or existing structures code
  • Plans required by licensed architect or engineer establishing that the site meets code for the new use group (means of egress, life safety, alarm, detection, suppression, electrical, plumbing and mechanical)
  • Submit your change in use group application online

Demolition

  • Completed site plan including erosion control measures
  • Service disconnect letter from Utilities (including date of disconnection)
  • City Licensed Plumber and or Drain Layer/Excavator shall disconnect water and sewer lines; capped lines must be inspected by City Water & Sewer Dept. prior to covering up capped lines. City utility lines must be capped at the main to be removed from billing.
  • Submit your demolition permit application online

Residential Garages & Sheds 

Deck

  • Deck design specifications
  • Plat of survey may be required if determined necessary by field inspection
  • Submit your deck permit application online

Fences

  • Fence design specifications
  • Plat of survey stamped by licensed surveyor or affidavit from all adjoining property owners
  • Submit your fence permit application online

Swimming Pools

  • All in-ground pools
  • All steel and semi-permanent above ground pools
  • Permit not required for inflatable pools 42 inches in depth or less
  • Pool specifications required
  • Submit your miscellaneous permit application online

Electrical, Plumbing, Miscellaneous

Roofing 

Concrete, Asphalt (Streets, Sidewalks, Service Walks, Parking Lots, etc.)
